Jan 25, 2008 Firefox just becomes somewhat slow and uses around 2.4GB of memory. You can close tabs all you like, the memory consumption stays this high. I've been seeing this behaviour for several weeks now and thought they would fix it with a later update, but nothing yet. Whenever you find that Firefox is consuming too much memory, it is better to restart your web browser. It often helps you. Before doing the same, configure Firefox to save opened tabs. It enables you to restart them from where you left off.
